Barting enters the 3PL sector with Mecalux’s Easy WMS

Barting: A leading Slovenian pallet distributor

For over two decades, Barting has distributed new, used and one-way EPAL Euro pallets, becoming one of the most sought-after companies in the Slovenian pallet market. Based in Lendava, the business also purchases and transports raw milk and other dairy products for export. Recently, it has entered the 3PL sector, taking on clients in the packaging materials industry. Founded in 2001, Barting distributes to Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Hungary and Romania.

Since it was founded in 2001, Barting has distributed new, used and disposable EPAL Euro pallets across Slovenia. Thanks to its reputation for reliability, the company has earned the trust of major clients, including Slovenia’s leading pharmaceutical companies. This success has enabled Barting to expand into the third-party logistics (3PL) sector. To provide its clients with top-notch service, monitor stock status and generate reports for each owner, the business has implemented Mecalux’s Easy WMS warehouse management system.

“We wanted to automate inventory management so we could focus entirely on what we do best: distribution,” says Robert Bažika, Managing Director of Barting. Based in Lendava, Barting supplies wooden pallets nationwide and even offers a drying service on request. Over time, the company also began trading in milk. It now uses its own fleet of trucks to transport high-quality milk from farms to dairies in Italy, Croatia, Hungary and Romania. This activity involves the purchase and delivery of products such as cream, skimmed milk, whey concentrate and 25 million litres of raw milk annually.

Having consolidated its position as a major pallet and dairy distributor, Barting recently ventured into the 3PL sector, adding packaging materials manufacturers to its client portfolio. With Mecalux’s Easy WMS, Bažika and his team now coordinate goods flows with the utmost efficiency.

Tight control over inventory

Barting’s business activity is becoming increasingly diverse, and the company is well-positioned for further growth thanks to the real-time stock visibility and control provided by Easy WMS. Inventory management has been streamlined through the software’s multiple counting options: blind, non-blind, physical and guided. Likewise, Barting can now track stock by Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC), product, batch and owner.

Easy WMS has also enhanced order fulfilment by generating shipping orders, automatically assigning tasks and printing packing lists as soon as trucks have been loaded. With tight control over every warehouse task, Barting now issues regular logistics reports and keeps its clients informed of their inventory status at all times. Additionally, the software manages the receiving, tracking, handling and shipping of batch samples to ensure mandatory traceability for the pharmaceutical industry’s strict requirements.

Thanks to a highly flexible WMS solution, Špica completed the project in just three months. The Mecalux software will support Barting as it continues to expand, with a new warehouse for over 5,000 pallets already under construction. “Demand for 3PL services in the region is growing steadily, and we’re ready to meet it,” says Managing Director Robert Bažika.
