Mecalux expands into the Senegalese market

10 Oct 2016

The company continues with its international expansion project after reaching an agreement with the renowned foods group Patisen — who is a leader in its sector— in the manufacture and installation of three warehouses in Senegal.

The most important installation is a 16 m high clad-rack warehouse composed of pallet racks with nine load levels. It can store more than 25,300 pallets of 1,000 x 1,200 mm with a maximum weight of 1,200 kg each. To handle goods, the workers will mainly use trilateral forklifts assisted by front loading reach trucks. Furthermore, it is clad-rack, therefore the structure of the building is formed by the racks themselves and the outer cladding is coupled to them.

In the other two smaller sized warehouses, they placed pallet racking and blocks of high-density racks with Pallet Shuttles where approximately 3,000 pallets can be deposited. The Pallet Shuttle system is an ideal solution when it is necessary to optimise space and reduce the time needed to load and unload goods.

With these three new warehouses, Mecalux launches into an emerging market with great opportunities, simultaneously reinforcing its commitment to continuous innovation and the internationalisation of its services.
