Storage capacity and a swift picking system

28 Aug 2017

Pellenc, a French farm equipment manufacturer, will equip its distribution centre in Pertuis (France) with an automated warehouse for boxes by Mecalux that will supply its production lines. In doing so, the business will be able to store 3,500 pallets and 2,312 boxes with a 50 kg maximum unit weight.

The automated miniload warehouse will consist of a single aisle with two double-depth racks on both sides, measuring 17 m long and 6 m high and divided into 17 levels. These racks will house two different box models: 400 x 600 x 240 mm and 400 x 600 x 120 mm.  Miniload Mecalux project Pellenc

A miniload stacker crane will be tasked with managing the inputs and outputs of the goods. It will include a double box, double-depth extraction system, capable of handling two boxes at once, either from one side of the aisle or the other.

Two picking stations will be enabled at one end of the racks. The preparation of orders will fulfil the "product-to-person" criteria, i.e., the stacker cranes will supply the operators with the goods needed to put each order together.
